About District vOTING

Lack of representation

For over forty years, Alamance County’s Board of Commissioners has lacked representation for people of color, despite them making up 38% of the population and 29% of registered voters. The board has been dominated by members from west Burlington, leaving much of the county unrepresented and its diversity overlooked.

These are the commissioners who served on the Alamance County Board of Commissioners between December 1994 and the present.

“Our board of commissioners should reflect our diverse community.”

Much of the county is not aware that they don't have district specific representation on the board of commissioners.

“It's our mission to inform the Alamance voter”

In my experience, I’ve found most residents do not know who the County Commissioners are, what they do or how they are elected.

Robert E. Byrd
Alamance County Commissioner, 2014-2018

“Every part of Alamance should be represented on the board of commisioners”
